Trailers: Dark Crimes, The Wife, Hearts Beat Loud

A couple of trailers today, starting with Alexandros Avranas’ thriller “Dark Crimes” starring Jim Carrey as a cop who finds similarities between an unsolved murder and a crime outlined in a book by famed writer Krystov Kozlow (Martin Csokas).

As the cop begins to track Kozlow and his girlfriend, a mysterious sex club worker (Charlotte Gainsbourg), his obsession grows and he descends into an underworld of sex, lies, and corruption. Jeremy Brock penned the script with the film hitting DirecTV on April 19th ahead of a theatrical & VOD day-and-date release on May 11th.

Next up, the trailer for “The Wife” starring Glenn Close, Jonathan Pryce, Max Irons, and Christian Slater. Close plays the wife of a Nobel Prize-winning author and is confronted by the truth that her husband isn’t the amazing person everyone thinks he is, and she has sacrificed her own career and creativity to support him.

Jane Anderson (“Olive Kitteridge”) penned the script with Swedish filmmaker Bjorn Runge directing. Sony Pictures Classics releases the film on August 3rd.

Finally, there’s “Park and Recreation” star Nick Offerman’s new indie film “Hearts Beat Loud” which premiered at Sundance in January and opens June 8th.

Brett Haley helms the film about a single dad and struggling record store owner whose daughter (Kiersey Clemons) is about to go off to college and ther music-playing days together will be over. That is until he releases a song by the duo and it gains them a bit of recognition.
