Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures have announced plans for both a 26-episode animated series revival and a live-action feature adaptation of its popular 1990s cartoon series “Rugrats”.

The new take on the animated series will see the return of creators Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain, who serve as executive producers. That project is already in production.

Paramount Players will handle the film which will blend CG characters with live-action (ala “The Smurfs,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks”) and is being penned by “Family Guy” and “Futurama” scribe David A. Goodman. That film is targeting a November 13th 2020 release.

The original series ran nine seasons and 172 episodes and boasted three theatrically released movies with the first grossing over $100 million at the domestic box office.
