Disney & Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” is headed for a domestic opening weekend of around $225-233 million. That number follows $39 million in Thursday night previews, the best Marvel preview number ever, followed by a further $60 million or so on Friday.
This marks the biggest film ever to bow at the end of April and one of only six films ever to open north of $200M. Whether it will grab the top spot is unclear at this point. Overseas the film has already nabbed $95 million in its first two days (Wed & Thurs).
Reviews for the film are good but a little soft, certainly not ecstatic as they were for “Black Panther” earlier this year. Currently the film sits at 84% and 7.5/10 on Rotten Tomatoes which would put it tenth overall in terms of MCU film T-Meter scores. On Metacritic it sits at 68/100 – putting it just behind the first “Avengers” (69) but ahead of the second (66).
