HBO’s “Sharp Objects” Set For July 8th

HBO has announced a July 8th premiere date for “Sharp Objects,” the eight-episode limited series starring Amy Adams, based on the novel by “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn, and sports Marti Noxon (“UnREAL”) as showrunner and one of the key writers.

Adams plays a journalist who returns to her small hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.

Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, Matt Craven, Henry Czerny, Taylor John Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Madison Davenport also star. Jean-Marc Vallee, who helmed the entire first season of the network’s “Big Little Lies,” is doing the same here.
