ITV & PBS series “Grantchester” has been renewed for a fourth season, but it has been confirmed these will be the final episodes with star James Norton as the jazz-loving, crime-solving vicar Sidney Chambers.
The actor is shooting more BBC-AMC drama “McMafia” and so is giving up his “Grantchester” role. His last season begins production in June ahead of a 2019 premiere. The series is expected to then pick a new vicar character who will take over and continue the show.
Next, Comedy Central has renewed half-hour comedy series “Broad City” for a fifth and final season set to premiere in 2019. The renewal is part of a new first-look agreement that will keep Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson in business with the Viacom-owned cable channel.
Finally, HBO has handed out renewals for its comedies “Barry” and “Silicon Valley” which will score a second and sixth season respectively. Bill Hader stars in “Barry” about a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest who finds himself drawn into a community of L.A. acting students. The series premiered only a few weeks ago.
