ESPN Films and Netflix have announced plans for a joint ten-part documentary series about arguably the most influential athlete of all time – Michael Jordan.
Titled “The Last Dance,” the series will be crafted from more than 500 hours of never-before-seen footage from the Chicago Bulls’ last championship run in the 1997-98 season.
Jordan and other key figures from the championship teams, as well as dozens of other luminaries from basketball, have given their full participation in this project exploring the simultaneous rise of Jordan and the NBA during the 1990s.
Jason Hehir (“The Fab Five,” “Andre the Giant”) directs the project which is produced by Mike Tollin. The series will premiere in 2019.
