“Black Panther” Getting A LEGO Film

Movie News

Marvel’s first African hero Black Panther, who gets his own Ryan Coogler-directed live-action film in February, is also set to score a LEGO spin-off film.

Announced at New York Comic-Con this weekend, Marvel Animation is teaming up with the LEGO Group for the project titled “Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda”. Marvel’s VP of Animation Cort Lane revealed the news but it’s not clear if it will go theatrical or, more likely, straight to DVD/Blu-ray.

This puts it more akin to past animated projects like “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload” as opposed to a major theatrical feature ala “The LEGO Batman Movie”.

It’s expected that a second trailer for the live-action “Black Panther” film is due out later this month.
