The 2018 Cannes Film Festival Line-Up

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival has announced its line-up with new films from directors Spike Lee, Pawel Pawlikowski, Jafar Panahi, Lee Chang-Dong, David Robert Mitchell, Matteo Garrone, Jia Zhang-Ke, Wim Wenders, Asghar Farhadi and Jean-Luc Godard.

The selection was announced by festival president Pierre Lescure and general delegate Thierry Fremaux at a press conference in France on Thursday morning. The films were chosen from nearly 2,000 submissions and are very light on U.S. releases, opting for mostly international titles.

Famously the festival will not include any movies from Netflix, which has opted not to submit any films in the wake of rules banning non-French theatrical releases from the main competition.

This means Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” and Jeremy Saulnier’s “Hold the Dark,” which would’ve likely made it into the competition, aren’t included. Here’s the official list:
